Anna Barriballs video work "Fade" references the colourising process of early cinema as I have done previously, and explores the concepts of memory and duration through film and moving colour. The laborious method of tinting and shading frames is described as having a "meditative" quality, and is further imbued with the concept of duration. This visual representation of memory and the passing of time is highly relevant to my own work, and the gradual morphing of the cultural memory of Fanny Cradock.
