Cindy Sherman: Untitled Film Stills

Revisiting Cindy Shermans series of film stills and its renewed relevance to my piece. The uncanny familiarity and professionalism of the shots invite you to question whether you in fact you have seen this film before, should it exist. The staging and drama playing off common cinema tropes in these images makes an interesting point on memory for me, and the invention of memories that may not actually exist through the synthesisation of imagery and tone from a specific period or media. Through my final piece I hope to communicate the synthesisation of the fragmented memory pieces of Fanny Cradock with an inflated interpretation of colour and atmosphere.
