I have been continuing to re-trace and map the recommendations of Fanny Craddock in her 1954 guide to the British Isles (link in image above). This task is tedious and seemingly pointless for the most part, but has the potential to spark eas or the process of mapping and tracking down buildings and businesses from roads, stations or places that may or may not exist anymore. Discovering clues or traces of information about the hotels and restaurants listed can feel satisfyingly investigative. eg. The Links Hotel, Thurlestone- no longer listed on google maps but identifiable from post cards found on google images:
